Subtle Shifts…

It’s been an interesting couple of days as I’ve tried to reconcile my seasonal colors with my energy colors. I was also referred to and have looked into personality-based styling, based on Meyers-Briggs personality results (I’m ESTJ – The Administrator), and I dug a little further into Kibbe body types (I suspect I am petite soft natural). I suspect my happy place will come from taking the best of each system (the parts that most resonate with me) and combining them, which won’t work wholly for any single system, but will be uniquely me.

Energy Wins: dynamic, textured, layered, substantial, medium contrast.
Seasonal Wins: light to medium colors, low-to-medium contrast, muted.
Personality Wins: efficient, practical, organized, tailored, appropriate, traditional.
Kibbe Wins: understated, classy, neutral, timeless, balanced, straight, low-contrast.

For me, this means things that look sort of like this (source – my Pinterest board):

On a practical level, this means a still-quite shaded palette, minus the boldest, warmest/brightest shades (mustard, orange, lime), keeping the warm brown and rust, re-introducing soft grays and some cooler and brighter whites (but not true/pure white – always with a bit of gray and warmth), and prioritizing classic lines with a hint of edge/texture whenever possible. I am keeping red, too, but a softened “Americana”/colonial red, rather than a true/blue red or bright vermilion. At present, my closet is my own version of Scandynamic…and already feels more authentic.

I also allowed myself to purchase a mini-capsule of gray and tint/tone items which were heavily discounted and all from the Gap online. These will be folded into the above closet set-up and balanced with tans and beiges and other warmer and more saturated colors. They should arrive today.

I will continue to track my wears, based on what is in ongoing rotation and what is pulled into rotation. I am planning to try something a little different this time, though – I’m going to add things as I go and see how much I wear when the silent-to-do list siren call of unworn (for whatever reason) items isn’t calling me as loudly as they do when the zeros and blank spaces sit on my tracking page.
