William Morris Mondays
One of my resolutions is to tackle the basement storage, which is in stasis since we moved in. I started by making sure the Christmas stuff we put away was organized and decluttered, and on a shelf by itself, so I can tell it’s “done”. Now, I’m tackling the gift bag/wrap collection. I thought it would be a quick job: after one hour, I’m 1/3 of the way through. It’s kind of a relief. This was a quick job, and it’s not quick. It feels a little metaphorical. Noted.
In my goals to hit twelve books in twelve months, I’ve (re-)started “The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared“. It was a Christmas gift from my best friend a year or so ago and I’ve been itchy to start it. Also! I finally finished this.
Not a lot here. I created a capsule wadrobe in November. What’s amazing about this, is that within a small snapshot of my total wardrobe, I can see (from the things I think I like best) what I wear and don’t wear.
Questions: If I want to wear it all, why don’t I reach for it? What doesn’t work? Fit? Function? Style? One of the things I wish capsule wardrobe advocates mentioned is how highlighting a small part of your wardobe allows you to really focus on how that small part works (or doesn’t) for you.
Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist fills the gap left by Glee. I didn’t even watch much beyond the first season or two, but if you’re hankering for a pop-music sitcom, this is your jam. Also, it mentions a friend’s husband’s company, and that’s awesome.
ALSO: I’m supporting Elizabeth Warren in 2020. Or anyone Blue.
I have four-and-a-half-year-olds (times two), and a two-and-a-half-year-old. It’s kind of awesome, and so hard, all at the same time. There are SO MANY tiny human opinions in my life right now, you guys. But they are amazing people and I really do enjoy them right now! 4.5s are real people. And 2.5 is hilarious. Also: freshly potty-trained, which means that disposables are finished! But we’re still in the thick of the work. x
I broke my shopping ban a bit when a good offer came through Poshmark, and thrifted a granddad cardi in dark charcoal from J Crew for $15 shipped today. So that’s #1 of my #20in2020. (also #2020wehaveplenty).
For February buying (since I want to buy in even months “only” #oops), I am looking at a new rain coat. I donated my Columbia system (from 2003!) and miss having a real raincoat with a hood. I’m looking for a “real” raincoat and not finding my current options (too thin/hoodless/too bright) up to snuff. So I’m considering this.
Workouts: I am doing pretty well here (in that I’m not taking off more than one day at a time), though I’ve decided that major housework (where I’m WAY over 10K steps) counts as a workout enough on its own) counts as a workout, so that was two days after the New Year. Otherwise, I’m at 2 cardio, 2 yoga, 2 “weights/muscle”, 2 house days in 2020 (with two days “off” so far).
Second Friday, second blog post pushes into Saturday. Rocking it. Journaling: last entry 1.4.2020. So…OK? OK.
So the resolutions are coming along, at different paces. x
More next week. Or something like next week. x
