My outfits are backwards in today’s photo…
TodayDecember 10
Navy Eileen Fisher turtleneck, gray REI technical-material pants, black Vigotti boots, ancient Anthropologie infinity scarf (it goes with everything), olive Lands End coat, old North Face beanie.

I am fine with this outfit, though these pants really aren’t warm enough for winter! I purchased them a few summers ago (prior to my pregnancy with the twins) to have a non-wool alternative for work. They let all the air through and it was 25 degrees today. Brrrrr.

I really like navy in theory, but find it so hard to wear. I’m fine pairing it with black shoes, but struggle when I only have black pants or brights. I think I need more gray pants.

I only photographed one outfit today, though with church and social plans, I ended up wearing two. This was the social-plan outfit, which involved bowling with a few other young families. I wore my Target duster cardigan over my Hinge ecru blouse, Everlane stretch cigarette jeans, and DV booties. I like this outfit better than I expected to, though I struggle with some fit/gaping on the Hinge blouse and while I haven’t found a great replacement for the DV booties, I’d rather have something made a little better. Maybe. Maybe these are good enough and that’s why I can’t find compelling alternatives. Also, I really liked them with the stretch jean.

Unfortunately the jeans were appropriately named, because while no one was smoking at the bowling alley while we were there, it was so permeated with smoke that we stunk to high heaven after we left. Yay for third-hand smoke, she grumbled.

I think I really like pairing warm and cool together. I should keep that in mind more often (e.g., ecru with gray, brown with blue).

Earlier in the day I wore my Prologue (Target) ankle trousers with brogue lace-ups and my burgundy zip cashmere from Stitch Fix/Knyt&Lynk. It was fine, but I felt a little frumpy. I think I’m ready to let the brogues go.

Another two-outfit day, but this time, I caught the first half only!

Tired of my pants options, I decided to pluck these green boyfriend chinos from purgatory and give them a shot and dang it if I didn’t like them. I had purchased them from Old Navy in summer 2017 as a fast-fashion (ugh) option for a postpartum body and never warmed to them, but I really like them with the  Everlane heavy tee and Lotta clogs. Again with the warm/cool juxtaposition and I like the green color.  I’ve added them to my wadrobe tracker.

That night, we went to see A Christmas Story at the Fox Theater in St. Louis City, and I switched into Target black tights, black (nursing, sigh) Latched Mama dress, Halogen linen long cardigan, and my black Nisolo Dari boots. The outfit was great, but I really need an LBD that is comfortable and flattering and sleeved and not nursing.

I think I’m going to start a shopping list… or revamp one if it’s already there.
